My Site Idea
Tell us what your site will be about.
Post your 5 web site "Rule Breakers Web Sites". Be sure to give a short sentence or two describing each site and why they are good rule breakers.
So, what do you think about this resource for K-12 STUDENTS AND TEACHERS.
What types of image manipulation software have you used in the past or is Photoshop your first? What do you like about the software?
I would like you to look for 3 sites that your can download clipart, images, drawings or any other digital artwork and post your findings to the Class Blog; wow: Image Abundance!!.
Two of the sites have to be free images of some type and one can be a pay by the month or week for use. Please give a short description of the site and how good it appears to you.
Please reflect on what you discover here, what features will be useful to you, etc.
Post your website URL here (don't froget to put the complete address) and please review and comment on other student's final projects. Good critical critiquing can help us all to make better sites next time or just improve the site we just completed.
How important are video and audio for internet use? Why do we wait the extra time for these media types, but not text and images?
What I really want to know is what you learned when creating this really ugly website.
After reading your classmates top ten lists, select one good and one bad and post here. This is just a little fun!!!
Post two sites that use CSS or media Libraries and briefly discuss what tipped you off.
Post the URL for the Blog you have created for the Week 9 assignment. Remember your Blog can be personal, reflective, business related, family related, whatever. No Rules!! As Nike says "Just Do It."
Now that you have created a small little website, post your URL address so your classmates can view and comment. Make sure you also view and comment on theirs as well.
Tell others about your site idea and what your plan to do for the design of the page. Post your ideas.
You have started to read about designing a web site and have seen several examples of some of the best. I want you to dig a little deeper and find at least 5 web sites that are breaking the rules, but doing it right. www.tokyoplastic.com
What this means, you need to find 5 sites that don't follow the normal web page layout and are trying something different, but the design and layout work. The sites are useable, easy to navigate and do their job getting the information to the viewer.
What's the normal style you ask? Banner on top, navigation to the left and text with one picture. If your really lost on what I am talking about as a normal style go the FHSU page. http://www.fhsu.edu Not that I am saying this is a bad layout, it is effective and loads quickly, but nothing that really sets the world on fire from a design standpoint.
When you find your 5 web sites post them in the Class Blog "Rule Breakers Web Sites". Be sure to give a short sentence or two describing each site and why they are good rule breakers.
Please introduce youself. So, I will do the same.
I was born and raised in Florida, on Clearwater Beach to be exact and graduated for Florida State University a long time ago (other places too, but FSU is my first love).
I have two kids, a son who is junior at FHSU majoring in Leadership Studies and a daughter who will be a sophopmore at University of Missouri Conservatory of Music in Kansas City. She is a dancer. I also have two step-children, both married and one with a new baby.
I taught high school journalism, English, graphic design and photography for 20 years and have been here at FHSU for going on eight.
I like this level and the freedom, but have to admit I really miss high school kids. Could go back to teaching hight school tomorrow and be perfectly happy.
I love to cook, paint and of course photography. I also have a website that is in a constant state of change.
