Introduce Yourself
Please introduce youself. So, I will do the same.
I was born and raised in Florida, on Clearwater Beach to be exact and graduated for Florida State University a long time ago (other places too, but FSU is my first love).
I have two kids, a son who is junior at FHSU majoring in Leadership Studies and a daughter who will be a sophopmore at University of Missouri Conservatory of Music in Kansas City. She is a dancer. I also have two step-children, both married and one with a new baby.
I taught high school journalism, English, graphic design and photography for 20 years and have been here at FHSU for going on eight.
I like this level and the freedom, but have to admit I really miss high school kids. Could go back to teaching hight school tomorrow and be perfectly happy.
I love to cook, paint and of course photography. I also have a website that is in a constant state of change.

Hello! My name is Tamara Padfield. I'm a 2003 FHSU Graduate! Go Fort Hays!!! And I'd have to agree, my college days are filled with some of my best memories!
This summer I decided to begin my Masters' Degree. I am currently a 5th grade teacher in Inman, Kansas. I teach Reading and Language Arts. I absolutely love it. I can't believe that I've already been teaching for two years. How the time flies.
Some of my hobbies include playing sports, spending time with friends and family, watching the Atlanta Braves on TBS, singing with my little sister, dancing, and writing poetry. I was excited to hear that this class needs to be completed by July 25th. This is the day that Julian, my family's foreign exchange student, is coming back to visit us! I can't wait. But I'm sure this class will help the time move quickly.
I'm looking forward to learning a great deal throughout this course. As a teacher, that's what being a life-long learner is all about! :)
Hi! My name is Valerie Hunter. I live in Port St. John, Florida (located on the east coast about 40 miles east of Orlando and 40 miles south of Daytona Beach).
I have an AA in Equestrian Studies from the University of Findlay (OH), a BA in Humanities from the University of South Florida (FL), and a MLS in English/Humanities from Fort Hays State University (KS). I am currently chasing a MIT degree from FHSU, and loving every minute of it. (I wish I could go to school forever!) I plan to get my EdD in Instructional Technology from Argosy University (FL) beginning in Spring 2006. One day, I would love to teach college online so that I can work and still be home for my children as they enter school.
I have a new "baby" named Warrior Angel Wings; he's a foundation registered Appaloosa colt. You will be seeing more about him in my posts and web page. :)
Anyway, I am looking forward to this class and I hope to learn a lot.
Hello, my name is Jeremy Ryan and I am a teacher at Wichita East High School. I also live in Wichita, Kansas. I've been there for five years and just got married last August. I am taking this course to learn more about web site publishing as well as fulfill my requirements on completing my Master's Degree. I've never blogged before and have never done much with web page design and posting so this is kind of new to me.
My name is Denise Parr. I live in Hays with my husband and 20 month old daughter. I graduated in 2001 with my BS in Business Education. I have taught and coached at Russell High School the past 4 years. I am currently working on my Masters with hopes to finish the MIT degree next summer.
I am excited to continue what I have already learned about the web and other technology facets.
Hello! I'm Dena Higbee. I work at the Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine school in Kirksville, MO. I'm the director of the performance assessment program that evaluates the medical students' proficiency in history taking and performing physical exam skills on patients.
I'm about halfway finished with my MIT, hoping to graduate in Spring 2006. Upon completion of my Master's, I will either be working on a Ph.D. in Instructional Technology, or perhaps an Ed.D. My Bachelor's is in Communication/Journalism, and owned a small town newspaper for a couple of years. Talk about a 24/7 job!
Hobbies... I guess they would be lawn work, bowling, golfing, softball and spending time with family and friends.
I have some experience in webpage design and look forward to learning more in this class!
Hello,
My name is Sherry Stewart, and I am an occupational therapist working in the public schools in Port Charlotte, FL. I am in the MLS program at FHSU, with a core concentration in assistive technology. This is actually my last class in the program and next semester I begin my project.
After reading everyone’s profile and experience with IT, I actually feel a couple of steps behind! This is the first time since entering the MLS program I have experienced this, which means I have lots of room for growth! Blogging is also a first for me, so I hope my fellow classmates and professor too, will be patient with me while I get up to speed.
My hobbies include traveling, hiking, biking, exploring and dreaming about future adventures. I love to learn, play and work hard too. I am looking forward to learning a great deal in this course and I am sure I will experience many opportunities to practice “patience” while learning.
Hi....I am Scott Parker from Hill City, Kansas. After I earn my degree, I plan on continuing to teach technology at Longfellow Middle School. LMS is located about 6 blocks from our home. I can get into my pickup, drive to school, head up the sidewalk, and get in the school door in about 60 seconds (which is handy when I am running late.)
