Top Ten Lists

Top Ten Improvements for My Page
10. Keep tweaking the navigation until a more creative/useful set appears.
9. Refine the graphics, make them more uniform, consistent.
8. Refine the text, arrange better, maybe use smaller text.
7. Somehow create a page that can be scrolled (for my links pages especially).
6. Add a mouse trailer (I think they’re fun-although maybe novice looking).
5. Add a flash intro, opening page needs more pizzazz.
4. Add small digital movies of lesson plans in action.
3. Optional sound buttons on lesson pages, so that each may be read aloud, or not.
2. Gather and categorize more links. You can’t have too many of those.
#1. Maintain, update. Maintain, update. Maintain, update. (Maybe a mailing list in the future?!)

Top Ten Horrible Things on Websites
10. Default colors for background, font, text size, etc. Default is boring.
9. Text in ALL CAPS. Annoying.
8. Animations that can’t be stopped or turned off.
7. Home page music that can’t be stopped or turned off.
6. Broken links, or links that are jumbled up and difficult to navigate.
5. Pop-up ads. You hate them, so does everyone else. Go ahead and spend a little on your page to get rid of them.
4. Text size is way too large.
3. Too many frames, like the information had to be squished all into one page.
2. Pages with a “5-paragraph-essay” feel to them. Make it interesting- this is not paper.
#1. Obnoxious, uncomplimentary colors- backgrounds, text, graphics, etc. Eye sore!

Top 10 things to improve my website

1. I would add some interactivity to my home page. Maybe a roll over on the bridge (not literally) linking it to another page on the site. Just an idea.

3. I would make the “contact” link live, so the visitor does not have to go to the home page to access it.

5. I would also look at changing my use of font.
6. On my Implementation page I would definitely like to add some type of graphics or animation to liven it up.

1. Add more pictures
2. Make it more user friendly
3. Add links that will be beneficial to the parents of the kids in my classroom.
4. Create links to town/county information.
5. Have a page for student work.
6. Change my personal info page to a short video people can download and watch
7. Update resume
8. Add a link for my daughter to start her own page

10 Anything to do with the Denver Broncos!!! This should have been number one.

10 ways to improve sites:
1. Jazz up the background color
2. Add shapes and graphics related to information.
3. Vary fonts throughout the page so it's not boring.
4. Add audio--many people learn better with it.
5. Add instructions(if necessary) for how to use the site. Some sites are rather complicated and you don't know where to go first.
6. Have a jazzy introduction to the website.
7. Include clarifying descriptions. Some sites you can browse through and they may be really cool, but you still aren't sure what they are selling or advertising.
8. Check links frequently to ensure they work.
9. Tweak contents and design. Who doesn't like a new look every once in a while?
10. My personal goal for my website improvement is to make sure I change assignments, due dates, and other information my students may need from it, in a timely manner.

10 ways to destroy sites:
1. Too many colors and fonts that things clash.
2. Overkill on animations, graphics, or audio that the brain is on sensory overload.
3. Scrolling required to see anything pertinent on the site.
4. Scrolling to long unnecessary lengths. Break up the information, I'll stay interested longer.
5. Lots of links that do not load.
6. Audio that plays really loud and no volume control to fix it.
7. Unbalanced content on the screen.
8. Fonts that are unreadable.
9. Way outdated information.
10. Log-in or registrations for minor information. Why must we give out our life story to read an article?

If I understood the question correctly, here is what I think about the best and the worst.

Best:
www.sithsense.com/flash.htm
I really enjoyed the effects and the fact that it has Vader and you trying to defeat him just makes it more appealing to me. I am a Star Wars fan if you had not guessed.

Worst:
www.donkeydonkey.com
The name intrigued me at first, and then the site just did nothing. Goes nowhere and seems to be a waste of space on a server.

I thought the best site was www.apple.com. It has a bunch of information but yet the information is easy to find. The index page is not overwhelming and the desing is very pleasing.

I thought the worse one out of the top ten list was www.bbhighway.com. It is way too cluttered. I wouldn't waste much time trying to find what I'm looking for on this page. Just not appealing at all.
